Janmashtami, the joyous celebration of Lord Krishna's appearance day, is the biggest festival of the year at ISKCON Guntur. Last year's celebration drew thousands of devotees and visitors for a night of kirtan, dance, and devotion that lasted until midnight — the exact moment of Krishna's appearance.
The evening featured an elaborate abhishekam (ceremonial bathing) of the Deities, a specially decorated altar, dramatic retellings of Krishna's pastimes performed by temple youth, and a feast of over fifty Prasadam preparations offered to the thousands in attendance.
This year's Janmashtami promises to be even bigger, with an expanded cultural program and additional prasadam distribution booths to serve the growing crowd. Mark your calendars — details will be announced on our Events page closer to the date.
