In the Krishna consciousness tradition, food is never just food. Before any meal is served at ISKCON Guntur, it is first lovingly prepared and offered to the Deities — a practice that transforms an ordinary dish into Prasadam, literally 'the mercy of the Lord.'
Prasadam is entirely plant-based, prepared with devotion, and free from onion and garlic, which are considered to agitate the mind. Devotees believe that honoring food in this way purifies not only the body but the consciousness of everyone who partakes.
This philosophy extends far beyond the temple kitchen. Through our Food for Life program, ISKCON Guntur distributes thousands of sanctified meals each month to those in need — continuing a tradition that has grown into the world's largest vegetarian food relief program.
